It’s important to remember that quality of interpretation matters when approaching a literature essay. It may be tempting to write down everything that you know but that can lead to a lack of depth in analysis. To gain higher marks you need to probe details very closely to draw out interpretations and make judgments.
To exemplify how this can be done, here are some example paragraphs which all explore the same quotation to varying degrees (D-A*):
