It’s important to remember that quality of interpretation matters when approaching a literature essay. It may be tempting to write down everything that you know but that can lead to a lack of depth in analysis. To gain higher marks you need to probe details very closely to draw out interpretations and make judgments.
To exemplify how this can be done, here are some example paragraphs which all explore the same quotation to varying degrees (D-A*):
This be a Christian house, sir, a Christian house. (John Proctor)
*Grades are a rough guide. The main point is for you to see how an interpretation can be developed and improved.
This has saved me a huge amount of work for my revision session on Monday. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the kind comment. A pleasure to know that we are reaching beyond our classroom.
